The
Jewish Community Housing Corporation is MetroWest's central
body for the construction, development and management of housing and
services for the elderly. It is responsible for five projects,
including the Jewish Federation Plaza in West Orange, Jewish
Federation Towers in Irvington, the Village Apartments of the Jewish
Federation in South Orange and the South Orange B'nai B'rith
Federation House.
The Jewish Community Housing Corporation also operates the Lester
Senior Housing Complex in Whippany, with 180 units of housing
constructed on the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus in
Whippany. Sixty of these 180 units are the first kosher
Jewish-sponsored assisted living facility in New Jersey and the
balance of 120 units are for independent housing. JCHC operates
three kosher nutrition sites, in Newark, Irvington, and West Orange.
